Free Crochet Shawl Pattern- Amara Shawl

The Amara Shawl is a gorgeous asymmetrical crochet shawl that is a perfect accessory for any time of year!

Pattern Details

The Amara Shawl crochet pattern uses DK (#3) weight yarn and a combo of the herringbone double crochet and the front post double crochet stitches to great this beautiful shawl!

This crochet shawl pattern is rated Easy in pattern difficulty. It is asymmetrical in shape and is worked from the smallest end to the widest end.

The shawl is easy to customize to make as small or as large as you prefer!

690-720 yards DK (#3) weight yarn

G (4.0mm) crochet hook

FPdc- front post double crochet

herr-dc – herringbone double crochet- yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch and one loop, yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over, pull through both loops

Lch – long chain – pull up a loop about the height of a dc (you can also just ch 2 instead, if you prefer)

RS- right side

**- repeat from

Pattern Notes

Pattern is asymmetrical, meaning it increases in width on one side.

Starting Lch does not count as first stitch. Starting ch 3 DOES count as first stitch.

Shawl can be made any size you prefer.

You will increase by 1 st each row.

I used 3 colors for my shawl. I used the first color in the first 3 repeats of rows 2 and 3. Then I used the 2nd color for the first repeat of rows 14 and 15. I then used the 2nd color for the next repeat, alternating the 2nd and 3rd colors when repeating rows 14 and 15. Then I used the 3rd color for the last repeat of rows 2 and 3.  Get creative with your colorwork if you desire!

Pattern

Ch 4

Row 1: (CA) herr-dc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch across. (3)

Row 2: (RS) ch 3, turn, 1 herr-dc in same st, 1 herr-dc in each st across. (4)

Row 3: Lch, turn, 1 herr-dc in each st across to last, 2 herr-dc in last. (5)

Rows 4-13: repeat rows 2-3. (Row 13 will have 15 sts)

Row 14: Ch 3, turn, 1 herr-dc in same, *1 FPdc in next st, 1 herr-dc in next st*, repeat across. (16)

Row 15: Lch, turn, 1 herr-dc in each st across to last, 2 herr-dc in last. (17)

Row 16-19:(Or to desired length) Repeat rows 14-15. (Row 19 will have 21 sts)

Rows 20-99: Repeat rows 2-19.

Rows 100-113: Repeat rows 2-3.

Fasten off. Weave in ends. Block if desired.
