Woman wearing color block crochet sweater called the Michelle Sweater.

The Michelle Sweater crochet pattern is a basic sweater crochet sweater with a beautiful stitch combo! It is worked in a very similar stitch combo of the Michelle Hat.

Pattern Inspiration

When planning for this design I knew I wanted to create a color block sweater with 4 colors. I wanted something basic and simple, so that the color blocking would be the real feature of the sweater.

I went with the cream, pinks, and browns simply because I thought they were a fun combo. A good mix of neutral, brights, and dark.

I decided to go with a variation of the same stitch combo as the Michelle Hat because I love the texture it creates and knew it would be great for a sweater!

This pattern comes in children’s sizes as well because I knew this would be a great crochet sweater for all ages!

Pattern Details

The Michelle Sweater crochet pattern calls for DK (#3) weight yarn. I used Paintbox Yarns Simply DK for my sample sweater, pictured above.

This was my first time using this yarn for a project, and I must say, I’m hooked! No pun intended!

It is such a perfect DK acrylic. This yarn is so soft and cozy and feels so nice against my skin. It also has a lovely drape that gives this sweater such a gorgeous look.

The price is really great too, at just $3 a skein. One skein has 302 yards!

I already have plans for more designs and projects in this yarn!

With your pattern purchase you’ll be getting 3 pattern downloads. One is children’s sizes 2-10. The next is adult sizes XS-XL, and the third is adult sizes 2X-5X. A total of 14 sizes! You can make this sweater for yourself, or someone else!

The pattern is rated intermediate in difficulty. You’ll find the stitches to be quite basic, but some knowledge of crocheting garments is required. With the pattern purchase you’ll receive a link a video stitch tutorial to help you get started.

The sweater is worked from the bottom up, with neckline and sleeves added at the end.
