The Dude Cardigan fits like a blazer and is great for the guys! Be sure to check out the Little Dude Cardigan to make for the kiddos in your life!
Pattern Inspiration
This men’s crochet cardigan came to be as part of the Dude Collection! This collection is specifically for the guys! There is a pullover sweater, a hat and scarf set, a blanket, and even a set of washcloths!
I wanted to create a unique blazer type cardigan for the guys. One they’d like to wear to church, or date night, or for family photos.
I also really love that this could be a unisex cardigan and would look great o ladies too! You may need to make some adjustments in the length and width, but it could still work!
The stitching in this cardigan is very simple but create a beautiful texture throughout the garment.
I just love this blazer style sweater on my hubby! He helped me design it too! He gave me the idea and he gave me lots of ideas and tips along the way! It turned out exactly the way we pictured it!
Pattern Details
This men’s crochet cardigan pattern calls for worsted (#4) weight yarn. I used WeCrochet Brava Worsted for my husband’s cardigan.
Brava Worsted is a soft and sturdy, 100% acrylic yarn that I use for so many projects! It comes in a large variety of colors and is very affordable.
Some other great yarn options would be Lion Brand Heartland or Paintbox Simply Aran.
The pattern difficulty for this sweater is intermediate. It is worked from the bottom up with sleeves and trim added at the end.
This sweater is fitted with only 1/2″ to 1″ of positive ease. For a looser fit, go up one size. For more tips, check out my post on Crocheting Garments.
The pattern calls for four 2″ buttons, but you can go with smaller buttons if you like, or not buttons at all.
This pattern is also very gender neutral and would look great as a women’s cardigan as well!
This cardigan comes in Men’s Sizes Small to 2X!
