The Katie Cardigan is a lightweight cardigan that is perfect for spring and summer! You can dress this one up or down!
Pattern Inspiration
This crochet cardigan pattern was actually inspired by my mom! She asked me if I could make her a spring, short sleeved cardigan to wear over the summer dresses she wore to church!
So I decided to design one specifically for her!
She wanted one that was on the shorter, cropped side and one that was long! So I set out to write a pattern that could be both!
The Katie Cardi turned out exactly how she wanted it and she loved it! I was super thrilled with it as well and made myself one!
If you love crocheting as much as I do, or want to learn more, or just want to show off your work, please join our Crochet Garments community over on Facebook! I hope you’ll share your finished crochet project with us!
The Yarn
I used Hobbii Rainbow Bamboo yarn for this project! I absolutely love this yarn, especially for garments! It is a 60% Bamboo Viscose, 40% cotton blend and it is so soft and lightweight! It comes in a large variety of colors and is perfect for those spring and summer projects!
Pattern Details
The Katie crochet cardigan so versatile!
You can make it a short cropped cardi or long.
The sleeves can be short, 3/4 sleeved, or even long sleeved!
The pattern comes in Women’s XS to 3X!
This project is worked from the bottom up in rows. It is then split into panels for the armholes. It has some optional shaping at the neckline, and sleeves and trim are added at the end.
There is also a Children’s Katie Cardi crochet pattern! This pattern comes in children’s sizes XS to XL. It would make a great mommy and me set!

This project has no ease. I recommend sizing up for a looser fit.
Starting chain DOES count as stitch.
Pattern is worked from the bottom up with top panels made and sewn together to create armholes.
There are two length options- short (just below bust) and long (hip length). You can make it as long as you want by adding more rows to the bottom panel.
Pattern is written in size XS with other sizes in parentheses as follows: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X). Stitch count for all sizes will be in parentheses at the end of each row.
Approximate yardage is based off hip length cardigan.
