Magnolia Market Bag

Summer time means trips to the farmers market, the library, the pool or beach, and hopefully more crochet time! And what do you need for all of that?! A crochet market bag!

The Magnolia Market Bag is easy to make, easy to customize to your needs, and is just so beautiful when finished!

If you love crocheting as much as I do, or want to learn more, or just want to show off your work, please join our Crochet Garments community over on Facebook! I hope you’ll share your finished crochet project with us!

The Magnolia Collection

I was inspired to create this design because I am so in love with the stitch combo and wanted to make everything with it!

I had already designed the Magnolia Shardi and the Magnolia Tee and I wanted to try out a slouchy market bag next.

For this bag I chose a cotton yarn because I knew I wanted something sturdy for carrying things like produce or books. I chose a 100% cotton yarn because cotton is just so sturdy and great for bags!

Crochet Bag Details

You will need approximately 250-300 yards of worsted weight (#4) cotton yarn to create this bag.

This pattern is rated Easy in difficulty. You only need to know basic crochet stitches such as double crochet, single crochet, and chaining.

This bag is worked from the bottom up, with a mix of joined and continuous rounds.

The size of the bag is 13″x 14″ laid flat, but it can easily be customized to be larger or smaller.

This crochet pattern is one of my best selling patterns! It is one of those projects that are just fun to make over and over again! These bags are so useful and are great for gifting or selling at markets and craft fairs!

The Yarn

For this crochet market bag project, any worsted weight (#4) 100% cotton yarn should work. For my latest Magnolia Market Bag I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran. I really like how sturdy this yarn is and all the vibrant colors it comes in!

Some other great yarn options for this bag are:

WeCrochet Dishie

Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton

Lily Sugar N’ Cream

  1. Good afternoon,

I purchased this pattern for the Magnolia Market Nag in May 24th and assumed the link would stay available on Etsy. I’ve been searching for it and can’t locate it and therefore my purchased pattern anywhere.

Can you help me locate the link?

    Thank you,
    Linda…
