A special thank to WeCrochet for providing the yarn for this pattern!
The Friendship Blanket is a crochet preemie blanket, that is small and soft for a new baby.
This crochet blanket pattern also has stitch multiples within the pattern so that you can make this blanket in any size you prefer.
Pattern Inspiration
I was inspired to create the crochet preemie blanket because I first designed the Friendship Hat and loved the look of it. I thought it would be beautiful as a blanket!
The simple, but unique crochet stitches give this blanket a look like no other!
It is a great unisex blanket and can be made in any color(s) you prefer! I loved using a solid color with a self striping yarn to create multiple colors within the blanket.
Pattern Details
This crochet preemie blanket pattern calls for worsted weight (#4) yarn. You’ll want to choose a very soft yarn for new baby’s skin if you are making this for a preemie.
I used Brava 500 and Chroma Worsted from WeCrochet for my sample blanket. While my sample is not for a baby at this time, I did find it to be very soft.
Brava 500 is a large skein of 100% premium acrylic yarn. It has 1090 yards per skein, which is more than enough for this blanket pattern. It comes in 12 different colorways, many that are perfect for a baby blanket.
It is a true worsted weight yarn and is very soft to the touch. It is also machine washable. I recommend lying flat to dry, but it can be dried in the dryer.
Chroma Worsted is a color transitioning yarn made of 70% super wash wool and 30% nylon. It comes in 24 colorways, including 3 solid colors. It works great for projects like this where you want multiple colors but don’t want to use a lot of yarn!
This preemie blanket pattern is rated easy in pattern difficulty. The stitches are simple and the stitch combo is repetitive.

What a beautiful baby blanket. Can’t wait to make it. Could you please tell me what color was the main color? If I am not mistaken it was the Brava 500.
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern.
Anita
Hi! It’s the Mint color, and yes, Brava 500.
