Pattern Inspiration
I wanted to design a very simple, but very modern and stylish crochet beanie. I wanted something that didn’t take too much yarn and wouldn’t require a lot of time either.
The cross double crochet stitch is the featured stitch in this hat. It is a simple, cable-like stitch that provides a great texture.
This crochet beanie is great for just about any season! It’s made with worsted weight yarn, so it will keep you warm despite the open stitch work. I wanted something that could be a year round staple!

The Yarn
The Bonnie Bell Beanie crochet pattern calls for worsted weight (#4) yarn. I used WeCrochet Provincial Tweed for my hat.
Provincial Tweed is a worsted weight yarn made of 80% Fine Superwash Highland Wool and 20% Donegal Tweed. It has 250 yards per skein and comes in 13 different colorways. I used the colorway Candy Apple.
I really enjoyed working with this yarn. The tweed is so gorgeous and very easy to work with! It is slightly thinner for a worsted weight, but I was still able to meet gauge easily.
It is soft and so perfect for a fall hat, if I do say so myself! I definitely plan to use it again for more projects!
You will need up to 125 yards to make one Bonnie Bell Beanie.

The crochet beanie pattern is worked in the round from the top down.
This pattern is rated Easy in pattern difficulty. You need to know basic crochet stitches like double crochet and single crochet.
You will also need to know the cross double crochet stitch, but you will find instructions for that stitch inside the pattern.
The crochet beanie pattern comes with instructions for 7 sizes, ranging from newborn to adult.
