I am so excited to bring you the Brimstone Sweater! This women’s crochet sweater is full of fun stitch combos and is an easy, no-sew workup! If you’re looking for a warm and cozy crochet sweater that won’t bore you to death while you make it, this one is for you!

About the Brimstone Sweater

I first created the Brimstone Beanie and Brimstone Cowl and knew I wanted to create a sweater using the same stitch pattern.

I wanted something unique with a lot of fun stitches throughout, instead of just one or two stitches like a lot of crochet projects. I freehanded the stitch combos and really like what I came up with!

This crochet sweater is a great fall or winter sweater because it’s made with worsted weight yarn, making it warm and cozy. It’s slightly oversized with 2-6″ of positive ease and looks great layered over your favorite tank top with jeans or even leggings!

How is the Brimstone Sweater Constructed?

This crochet sweater pattern is constructed from the top down by creating a circular yoke. Once the yoke is the right length and width you will create the armholes by skipping a certain number of stitches.

From there the bottom of the sweater is completed and sleeves are added at the end.

This crochet sweater has a seamless construction and is worked in a continuous round.

This is an intermediate level crochet pattern, but it does now come with a full pattern video tutorial.

The Yarn

The Brimstone Sweater is made with worsted weight (#4) yarn. I used Lion Brand Jeans yarn for my original sample. The photos you see on this post are using WeCrochet Brava Tweed yarn.

Jeans yarn is a super soft yarn that I really love! I have used it for so many projects and keep going back to it! It is 100% acrylic and can be machine washed and dried.

Brava Tweed is also a really soft and cozy yarn. It is a tad thicker so I did have to adjust my hook size when making it with this yarn. Brava Tweed is 97% acrylic, 3% viscose. I used the colorway Wren for this project.

The Brimstone Sweater is such a great fall sweater. It has an amazing fit and is so cozy! I think you’ll enjoy making it almost as much as you enjoy wearing it!

The Brimstone Sweater comes with written instructions for women’s sizes XS to 5X, a total of 9 sizes spanning a bust circumference of 28-62″.

Q? How much yarn will I need for this project?

A. It depends on the size, but you’ll need somewhere between 808 yards and 1600 yards of worsted weight (#4) yarn. The size chart in the pattern has the yardage estimates for each size listed on it.

Q? What hook size do I need to use?

A. Since this is a garment, it is very important to check your gauge to determine the hook size you need to use for the project and with the yarn you are using. Here is a blog post on How to Check Gauge from Start to Finish.

Q? What size is the model wearing?

A. I am modeling a size Small sweater in the photos. I am 5’3″ and have a 34″ bust circumference.

Fasten off. Weave in all ends. Block if needed.
