This alpine stitch beanie is made in a fingering weight Merino wool blend, which gives you extra warmth without a lot of bulk. Front post double crochet stitches, which overlap the previous row, create a layered fabric that’s extra cozy.

Details for the Dutton Alpine Stitch Crochet Beanie
This alpine stitch crochet hat pattern is worked in fingering (#1) weight yarn. I used WeCrochet Stroll Tweed for these beanies. This superfine weight yarn is made from 65% Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon, and 10% Donegal Tweed.
You can see three of the colors below, but this yarn comes in 30 different colorways, all of which have contrasting neutral colored flecks which add extra texture! If you prefer a solid, Stroll comes in solid colors as well.
The Dutton Beanie starts from the bottom with a ribbed brim, worked in rows. You’ll join the ends of the brim together to make the band, then continue working in rounds until you reach the top.
There are so many fun options for these hats! Make a matching set for a family photo shoot. Or customize each hat to suit the wearer’s individual style with different colors and embellishments.
This pattern is rated Intermediate in pattern difficulty. It comes with instructions for 4 sizes – toddler through adult. These four sizes will fit heads, ranging from 18″ – 23″ in circumference.
