Woman Wearing the Touch of Elegance Crochet Wrap

I am so excited to have another guest designer on the blog today! Janet, of Simply Hooked by Janet is sharing her beautiful Touch of Elegance Wrap pattern with us!

About the Designer

Hi everyone!

I’m Janet Pippin the owner and designer behind Simply Hooked by Janet. I have been crocheting for 17 years since the age of 12. I started designing my own crochet patterns in 2016 and I absolutely love the creative process of designing a new pattern.

Being able to form and create something that only started as a thought is always exciting for me to see that idea brought to life.

Two of my favorite things to crochet for myself are triangle scarves/shawls and home décor.  Maybe one of those is your favorite too! I love the look and wear of a triangle scarf and with home décor I just love making our house feel homey with some hand made items.  Plus, I can make something exactly how I want it.

I’m grateful to have this opportunity from Michelle to share one of my own new designs with you today and I hope you enjoy it!

About the Pattern

This wrap design that I am sharing with you is easily becoming a favorite of mine.  It is an easy repeat to work up and it is also easy and comfortable to wear. Wear this with a nice pair of jeans for a date or wear this over a nice dress for a special occasion.

This pattern can be worked in these sizes – S/M, L/XL, 2X/3X.

This design uses one of my favorite yarns from Lion Brand Yarn, ZZ Twist. This yarn provides great stitch definition. It is also a favorite because of the drape it provides to certain projects.

With this wrap you will get the best results when using ZZ Twist yarn. If you need to substitute yarn, then find a yarn that has a good drape to it.

PATTERN NOTES

Ch 4 counts as a dc st and ch-1 space.

You can adjust the width by chaining multiplies of 8 chs plus 4.

You can adjust the length by adding more row repeats.

Instructions: S/M, (L/XL, 2X/3X)

Ch 76 (84, 92).

Row 1: Dc in 6th ch from hook, *ch 1, sk a ch, dc in next; repeat from * across, turn – 73 (81, 89) sts.

Row 2: Ch 4, sk 1, dc in next 5 sts, *(ch 1, sk 1, dc in next) twice, dc in next 4; repeat from * across until a ch-1 sp and dc remain, ch 1, sk 1, dc in last, turn – 73 (81, 89) sts.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2.

Row 4: Ch 4, sk 1, dc in next, *ch 1, sk 1, dc in next; repeat from * across, turn – 73 (81, 89) sts.

Rows 5-88 (94, 103): Repeat Rows 2-4. Do not turn after last Row.

Border:

Round 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc evenly around being sure to place 5 dc in each corner space, join with a sl st.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around placing 3 sc in the center st of each corner space, join with a sl st.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing:

Fold the wrap in half so Row 1 meets with the last Row.

Measure from the folded point 11 inches down.  This open section will become your neck hole.

The 11-inch mark is where you will place your first button on one side of the wrap along the border edge.

Place remaining buttons 1.5 inches apart from edge of button to edge of button.

Buttons should fit between the border dc sts on the opposite side of the wrap.

If you have slightly larger buttons that will not fit between the dc sts of the border, then you can use the chain spaces near the border as the buttonholes.

I hope you enjoy making and wearing this wrap!
