Crochet Vest Free Pattern – Running Rings Around Granny
I am thrilled to have Fiona of Cosy Rosie UK sharing a new crochet pattern with us this week!
About the designer
Fiona lives in the UK with her husband and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Emily. Her dog shares her passion for crochet and all things yarn, acting like a kitten around yarn – Emily loves to nibble on the yarn bands if left unattended.
Fiona’s favourite projects to design are patterns that allow beginners and improvers add a new technique to their skills as they make beautiful size inclusive garments and homeware patterns that make home a happier, cosy place to be.
You’ll usually find Fiona curled up under a crochet blanket on the coach with a new project in progress.

About the Pattern
I am a huge fan of the granny stitch and you will find the stitch snuck into many of my designs from my 3D Flower Granny square through to other patterns in the Running Rings Collection.
The Running Rings Collection started it’s life as a teapot cosy with a very vintage feel. This way of working the granny stitch in the round is unique in the way that the pattern increases unlike other flat crochet circles.
This crochet vest pattern has a festival ware/Coachella feel when the optional fringing is added. It will move with you whether you’re strolling through the sand at the Hangout Festival or across the muddy paths of Glastonbury.
The crochet vest pattern is started with a granny circle which is roughly squared off and there is minimal sewing as the side panels are worked directly onto the square. The only sewing is across the shoulders, which joins the side panels to the top of the square.
The square is over increased to produce a spiral appearance and decreased through the edging for a flat fit across the top of the neck.
