Introducing the First Cuppa Vest, a versatile and stylish crochet pattern designed to be your go-to layering piece for any season. Crafted with lightweight sport (#2) weight yarn, this vest offers the perfect blend of comfort and elegance, draping beautifully over your favorite tops.
Its simple yet chic design makes it an ideal project for both beginners and experienced crocheters, while the breathable fabric ensures it’s just as suitable for cool summer evenings as it is for cozying up in fall.
Whether you’re enjoying your first cup of coffee in the morning or heading out for a casual day, the First Cuppa Vest adds a touch of effortless style to any outfit!
Crochet Vest for Layering
This simple but cute crochet vest is a lovely layering piece! It looks great over a tank top, dress, or even long sleeves! It is easily customizable to be as wide or as long as you prefer. You can size up to make it more like a short sleeved cardigan, or add length to make it a duster vest!
The First Cuppa crochet vest pattern has instructions for 5 sizes, ranging in bust from 34″ to 66″. The vest is meant to be worn with approximately 4-8″ positive ease.
This vest is worked in two long panels that are folded and then sewn together side by side. If sewing makes you nervous, check out my video on How to Seam Crochet Pieces Like a Pro.
This pattern is rated Easy in pattern difficulty. It is worked using basic crochet stitches like the double crochet, and then sewn together. I am confident an adventurous beginner could crochet this vest.

The Yarn
I used WeCrochet Shine Sport yarn for this crochet vest. It is a 60% Pima Cotton, 40% Modal blend. It is very soft and shiny, and comfortable against the skin.
This yarn comes in a nice variety of beautiful colors, and can be machine washed and dried.
Some other great yarns you could use for this crochet project are:
Comfy Sport – 75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic
Cotton Fair – 52% Cotton, 48% Acrylic
Rainbow Bamboo – 60% Viscose, 40% Cotton
