There is now a Children’s Delaney Sweater Dress crochet pattern to match the adult Delaney Sweater Dress! This would make such a cute Mommy and Me outfit!
This crochet sweater dress is an adorable addition to your little one’s wardrobe. It is worked from the top down and there is no sewing required. It has minimal shaping and can be adjusted to any length you prefer.
Pattern Inspiration
I was inspired by the adult Delaney Sweater Dress, of course! This beautiful crochet sweater dress just needed to have a children’s version! This dress is great for family photos, church, holiday events, and more!
Thank you for supporting my blog by scrolling through and reading the pattern right here on the site. When you stay on the blog I am compensated for my time. If you prefer, you can also support me by purchasing a printable, ad-free pdf download version of the pattern on either Ravelry or Etsy. Otherwise, keep on scrolling for the free pattern.
Pattern Details
The Children’s Delaney Sweater Dress crochet pattern calls for Brava Sport yarn from WeCrochet. This is a sport (#2) weight yarn that is 100% premium acrylic. I love to use this yarn for garments because it can be machine washed and dried and is very durable, yet soft.
The pattern is worked from the top down with a circular yoke. There is no sewing required, and it only has a bit of shaping at the hips.
You will need to know the herringbone double crochet stitch for this project. Be sure to check out my stitch tutorial if you need to learn it.
This pattern comes with instructions for children’s sizes 2-10.
You’ll need a G (4.0mm) crochet hook or hook to obtain gauge for this project.
Styling
Like I said earlier, I think this would make such a cute Mommy and Me outfit for photos, church, or any occasion!
This crochet sweater dress looks super cute with leggings or tights underneath and with some cute boots as well! You can add a chunky belt to the waistline also and accessorize with a cute bow or necklace!

Sleeve instructions are written in smallest size with additional sizes in parentheses as follows: 2 (4, 6, 8, 10). Stitch count for ALL sizes will be in parentheses at the end of each row/round.
Join yarn to st at bottom of armhole (near armpit area), facing WS.
Rnd 1 (ws): Lch, evenly work 36 (40, 42, 44, 46) around armhole, join to 1st st. (36, 40, 42, 44, 46) (Note: You will be working 2 sts into the underarm where there are no stitches)
Rnd 2 (rs): Lch, turn, 1 hbdc in each st around, join to 1st st. (36, 40, 42, 44, 46)
Rnds 3 – 20(28, 32, 36, 40): (or to desired length) repeat Round 2.
Rnd 21 (29, 33, 37, 41): ch 1, *sc2tog; repeat from * around, join to 1st st. (18, 20, 21, 22, 23)
Now you will work the sleeve trim.
Ch 11
