The Orson Beanie is a simple, easy crochet beanie pattern that is great for the whole family! The crochet beanie is reversible and can be worn on either side. It uses one main stitch in two variations, which gives it a great texture!
Pattern Inspiration
Lately, I find myself really drawn to one stitch patterns. Simple and easy to memorize. Quick to work up because there aren’t a lot of stitches to combine. I designed the Evander Beanie in this fashion and decided I wanted to make another the same way.
By using only one stitch, but working it into the back loop only for every other round, it creates a really nice look and texture for the beanie. It also makes it reversible, one side being a little less textured.
Pattern Details
This reversible crochet beanie pattern is worked from the bottom up with the stitch count decreased at the top to sew shut.
The pattern comes in 4 sizes, toddler through adult.
You’ll need a #4 worsted weight yarn for this project. No more than 186 yards.
The Yarn
For the Orson Beanie I used WeCrochet Mighty Stitch worsted. It is a beautiful yarn that is 80% acrylic and 20% superwash wool. It can be machine washed and dried. It comes in a huge variety of colors and has 208 yards per skein.
Some great alternatives that I’d recommend would be Furls Crochet Wander Acrylic or Lion Brand Heartland.
