Pattern Details
The Easy Peasy Slouch is a crochet slouch hat made with bulky #5 weight yarn. I used Mary Maxim Marvelous Chunky yarn for the sample pictured in this post.
Marvelous Chunky is such a fun yarn. It has a bit of a self striping look to it with flecks of different colors throughout the yarn. It is a true bulky (#5) weight yarn. This yarn comes in 6 fun colorways and can be machine washed and dried!
This crochet slouch pattern comes in toddler, child, and adult size.
It is rated Easy in pattern difficulty. You will only need to know the beginner crochet stitches, double crochet and single crochet.

If not using bulk yarn what size yarn needle to use?
You will have to check gauge to determine what size hook you need for the yarn you are using. Otherwise the fit will likely come out wrong.
Great pattern! My hat is perfect!
I absolutely loved the pattern and my beautiful hat was done in a few hours! My only small regret was going down to a J hook because I wanted a more fitted feel and I absolutely got that. I loved this pattern so much that now I am working on a second one with the recommended K hook size for my yarn. God has blessed you with a wonderful creative gift and I thank you for sharing it with others.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed the pattern!
Can I sell the finished item??
Yes you can! Just please link back to this post for credit. Thanks for asking!
My husband’s head is 24 1/2 inches around. How can I make it wider?
I’d continue increasing. So after round 3 of the teen/adult size do another round:
Ch 2, 2 dc in same stitch as ch 2, 1 dc in next 2 sts, *2 dc in next stitch, 1 dc in next 2 sts*. Repeat from * around, join to 1st st. (40)
Then continue on from there with the stitch count of 40.
Thank you so much!!
Your reply to Terri McKinney was prefect for what I needed. Tho, I guess I crochet a bit loose now-a-days, as it came out a bit large and loose. So I went down size I had which was K, and did the brim with it, and yes, did it a bit tighter.
Came out lovely and done in about 1 day which even for me was fast, I’ve gotten older and slower. Will post a pic when I can on your page.
Thanks for a lovely pattern!!
Hi Michelle can I use any chunky yarn for this pattern ? It’s lovely I have a lot of chunky yarn that I could use.
