Crochet Hoodie Pattern for All
If you didn’t already know, this is actually my third Dutton Hoodie pattern! I first came out with the Men’s Dutton Hoodie, when I published my book, “Crochet Makes for Men”. The men’s version was a huge hit! It is made with the same yarn, and comes with instructions for men’s sizes Small through 5X.
About 6 months later, I released the children’s version of the Dutton Hoodie. This pattern has children’s sizes 2 through 16 included, and was once again a favorite!
Now, it is finally time to include a women’s version of this very popular crochet hoodie pattern! I was tired of stealing my husband’s and was ready to make one for myself!

The Women’s Dutton
The Women’s Dutton Hoodie is worked in the same way as the other two patterns, in the round from the bottom up and then split into panels to create the armholes. Sleeves, hood, and trim are then crocheted on to the body of the hoodie.
This pattern features the beautifully textured Alpine Stitch. You will turn each round or row to create this gorgeous stitch.
The Women’s Dutton Hoodie is made with about 2″ of positive ease. For a more oversized fit, I recommend going up a size or two.

This is an intermediate/advanced crochet pattern. While I have full confidence that an intermediate crocheter could make this hoodie, I do recommend being able to read a written tutorial, and have some knowledge about sizing, crocheting garments, and bottom up construction.
There are some photos throughout the pattern for visual aide, as well as video stitch tutorial and video tutorial for attaching the hood.

The Yarn
For all three of the Dutton Hoodie crochet patterns, I used WeCrochet Stroll Tweed.
Stroll Tweed is a 65% fine superwash merino wool, 25% nylon, and 10% Donegal tweed blend. It is a fingering (#1) weight yarn. It comes in so many beautiful colors, and also has a solids line that is without the tweed.
This yarn is perfect for the Dutton Hoodie, because it is a lightweight yet warm yarn. The Alpine Stitch uses a lot of yarn, so anything heavier than a fingering weight yarn will make the garment very heavy. This yarn creates a beautiful drape and makes the hoodie perfectly cozy and not too heavy.

Materials Needed
You’ll need a crochet hook to meet gauge with for this project. You’ll start with a 3.75mm (F) crochet hook and work from there. Be sure to check out my Checking Gauge Cheat Sheet for help on determining your hook size.
Other materials you will need are:
Scissors
Measuring Tape
Yarn Needle
4 (1/2″) beads (optional)

Hello Michelle,
I purchased your book of men’s patterns and am currently working on the Dutton Hoodie. I am using Stroll fingering weight yarn and an F hook. I like the alpine stitch but it wants to roll. I worry that it will never lay flat. I have about 10 rows completed. Should I be blocking it as I go?
Hi! I like to go ahead and add the bottom trim to it and that helps some with the rolling up, bit it will still roll up some. Once you get the panels done and the shoulders seamed that will also help too. And definitely block it at the end too!
