The Reed Raglan Sweater is a men’s crochet sweater pattern from my book Crochet Makes for Men. This book includes 12 modern and masculine crochet patterns for men. Included are patterns for both garments and accessories. The garments are size inclusive, with instructions for 8 sizes, from Small to 5X. There are also 4 hat patterns, and 2 scarf patterns in the book. These patterns use simple stitches to create amazingly attractive menswear.

About Reed
The Reed Raglan Sweater is a men’s crochet sweater that is worked from the top down with a raglan yoke. It uses just one main stitch and requires no sewing or seaming.
The sweater has 1-3″ of positive ease, making it great to wear alone or over a favorite collard shirt. The herringbone double crochet stitch gives it a lovely texture and the ribbing trim on the bottom, sleeves, and neckline create the perfect finish.
This crochet sweater looks great dressed up with a collared shirt underneath and some slacks, or dressed down and worn alone with shorts or jeans.
This pattern comes in men’s sizes small to 5X. It includes a size chart with both chest and shoulder measurements. The model pictured is wearing a size Large. Please check out my guide to crocheting men’s garments for more details on how to choose the right size.
The Yarn
For this project I used Brava Sport from WeCrochet. Brava Sport is 100% premium acrylic yarn. It comes in a large variety of colors and can be machine washed and dried. For my sample I used the colorway Almond.
It is soft, and durable, and really easy to work with. I’ve used it for many garments and sweaters!
The following yarns will make a great substitution for this project:
Wool of the Andes Sport – 100% Peruvian Highland Wool
Heatherly Sport – 80% acrylic, 20% merino wool
Mary Maxim Baby’s Best Yarn – 80% acrylic, 20% nylon
Premier Yarns Cotton Fair – 52% cotton, 48% acrylic
