The Slater Beanie is a men’s crochet beanie pattern from my book Crochet Makes for Men. This book includes 12 modern and masculine crochet patterns for men. Included are patterns for both garments and accessories. The garments are size inclusive, with instructions for 8 sizes, from Small to 5X. There are also 4 hat patterns, and 2 scarf patterns in the book. These patterns use simple stitches to create amazingly attractive menswear.
Check out my page all about Men’s Crochet Patterns for more details on crocheting for men and to find more patterns.

About Slater
The Slater Beanie features the bean stitch and is reversible!! It looks great on both sides and can be worn either way! If you take a close look at the photos above you’ll see the green beanie on my husband looks slightly different than the gray one. It is because it’s being worn on the other side.
This hat is worked from the bottom up, starting with the ribbed trim. It comes in 4 sizes from toddler to adult.
The Slater crochet beanie is a great fall/winter beanie and can be worn by anyone. I designed it for the guys, but girls will love this one too!
The Yarn
For this crochet beanie I used WeCrochet Mighty Stitch (#4) worsted yarn. Mighty Stitch is an 80% acrylic, 20% superwash wool blend. It is very soft and has a lovely shine to it!
You’ll find a large variety of colors to choose from in this yarn line! The colors range from neutrals, to pastels, to brights! This yarn can also be machine washed and dried.
The following yarns will make a great substitution for this project:
Brava Worsted – 100% premium acrylic
Shine Worsted – 60% cotton, 40% Modal natural beech wood fiber
Heartland – 100% acrylic
Heatherly Worsted – 80% acrylic, 20% merino wool
