The Beachy Babe Halter Top crochet pattern is a beautiful summer project that can be worn as a tank top alone, over a swimsuit, or cropped like a swimsuit top!

Pattern Inspiration
I wanted something cute and summery to wear to our beach vacation! So I decided to try a simple halter top that could be worn long or short!
I have the autoimmune disease Psoriasis and I was just coming down from the worst flare that I’ve had to date. My skin was finally healing and I was ready to feel like my old self again! This halter top was kind of like my goodbye to that season of life, where I was miserable for months! Now I was feeling better and ready to let my skin feel the warmth of the sun and feel confident again!
I wrote the pattern for 3 different lengths to match anyone’s style. This is a great piece to add to your summer wardrobe! You can dress it up or wear it casually.
I also decided to add children’s sizes to this pattern!

If you love crocheting as much as I do, or want to learn more, or just want to show off your work, please join our Crochet Garments community over on Facebook! I hope you’ll share your finished crochet project with us!

The Yarn
For the updated halter top I chose to use WeCrochet Comfy Worsted (#4). This fun acrylic/cotton blend yarn is so comfortable, easy to wash and care for, and comes in many colors!

Yarn Alternatives
Some great alternatives to this yarn would be WeCrochet Dishie or Shine Worsted, as well as Lion Brand 24/7 cotton! All are great, high quality cotton yarns!

Pattern Update!
As of July 2023, this pattern has been updated! The original pattern only went to size Large in both children’s and adult sizes. The updated pattern now comes in children’s XS to XL and adult XS-5X!
I’ve also made the halter wider at the neckline, and the body of the garment start higher, making this halter top strapless bra friendly!
Check out my post on Crocheting Garments for helpful tips to get a great fit!
This pattern is written for 3 different lengths, Bikini, Crop Top, and Long.

For this top you will create a top panel then work in the round for the body of the top. No sewing is required!
This pattern is rated easy in pattern difficulty. You will need to know the basic half double crochet and single crochet stitches. The hdc spike stitch is also used. For help with this stitch, please watch the stitch tutorial below.

Pattern Notes:
Pattern is in US terms.
Halter top is worked from the top down. It can be made bikini style, waist length, or full length. See pattern instructions for your preference.
This yarn will stretch a bit with wear, but stitch count accommodates for that. To adjust fit around, chain more or less chains in an even number before joining to first st.
Starting chain does not count as first stitch unless stated otherwise within the pattern.
Pattern is worked starting hdc rows with any odd number of stitches.
If using multiple colors, change colors every 2 rows/rounds.
Pattern is written in smallest size with additional sizes in parentheses. Final stich count for all sizes is in parentheses at the end of each round/row. If only one stitch count, it applies to all sizes. See example:
Children’s XS(S, M, L, XL) Adult XS(S, M, L, XL)(2X, 3X, 4X, 5X)

I have a “grow” account already set up and use it with Briana K Designs, HanJan Crochet and Heart Hook and Home.
It will not let me access this pattern. When I hit sign up it takes me to my account with my bookmarked patterns.
I would really like to try this pattern for my grand daughter but I’m on a fixed income so I try the “complimentary” version first.
If you could help, I would appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.
Hi! If you already have an account you need to switch to log in. When you click sign up, the next box that pops up will have a “Switch to Log In” button in the top right. Sign in with your email and password and then it should appear. I just double checked that it’s working and it is, so see if that works.
