About Sylas
This crochet sweater vest pattern uses a very simple stitch combo to create a really nice texture. I knew I wanted to include a sweater vest in this men’s collection, because of how sophisticated and dapper they look.
This pattern is worked from the bottom up in two separate panels. It is all worked in rows, except for the trim. The two panels are then sewn together, and the trim is added around the bottom, neckline, and armholes at the end.
This sweater vest will look great over a long sleeve button down shirt, or a short sleeve tee shirt. It looks great dressed up with some slacks, or dressed down with jeans or shorts. This outfit is great for date night, a special event, church, or family photos.
The Yarn
I used Swish Worsted for this crochet sweater vest. It is a 100% superwash merino wool worsted yarn. It is definitely on the lighter side for a worsted (#4) yarn. Be sure to check gauge and adjust accordingly for this yarn or any other substitution you may use.
This yarn is so soft and great for garments. I love that it can be machine washed and dried. It also comes in a great variety of colors!
If you want to use a different yarn the following will make great substitutions for it:
Wool of the Andes Superwash – 100% Superwash Wool
High Desert Worsted – 100% American Wool
Paintbox Yarns Wool – 100% Wool
