The Guthrie Color Block Sweater is a men’s crochet sweater pattern from my book Crochet Makes for Men. This book includes 12 modern and masculine crochet patterns for men. Included are patterns for both garments and accessories.
The garments are size inclusive, with instructions for 8 sizes, from Small to 5X. There are also 4 hat patterns, and 2 scarf patterns in the book. These patterns use simple stitches to create amazingly attractive menswear.

About Guthrie
Guthrie is your simple, every day crochet color block sweater. It is soft, and comfortable, and cozy for cold weather.
The Guthrie Sweater crochet pattern is worked from the bottom up and uses the simple lemon peel stitch combo to create a really subtle texture. The color block look is created using 3 colors.
The pattern comes in 8 sizes from men’s small to 5X. It includes a size chart with both chest and shoulder measurements. The pattern also includes a schematic. The model pictured is wearing a size Small. Please check out my guide to crocheting men’s garments for more details on how to choose the right size.
The Yarn
For this crochet color block sweater I used WeCrochet Swish (#3) DK yarn.
The color ways used in the sample are Cobblestone Heather, Dove Heather, and Mimic.
Swish DK is a 100% Fine Superwash Merino Wool. It is a very soft yarn! It comes in many colors and can be machine washed and dried.
If you don’t want to use Swish DK, the following yarns will be great substitutions:
Gloss DK – 70% Merino Wool, 30% silk
Capra DK – 85% Merino Wool, 15% Cashmere
LB Collection Superwash Merino Wool – 100% extra fine wool
Mellowspun DK – 100% acrylic
