The Yarn
For this project I used WeCrochet Comfy Fingering (#1) yarn. This yarn is 75% Pima cotton, 25% acrylic. It is soft and very comfortable against the skin.
Comfy Fingering comes in a fairly large variety of colors and can be machine washed and dried.

Pattern Notes:
Top is worked from the bottom up, in the round, and then split into two panels to create the armholes.
Starting chain does not count as first stitch, unless stated otherwise within the pattern.
Long chain = pull up a loop about the length of a dc, chain one.
Herringbone double crochet = yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch and one loop, yarn over, pull through one loop, yarn over, pull through both loops. Stitch tutorial: https://youtu.be/6Q22VL3ns7w
Stitch count is worked in a multiple of 2. However, when splitting in half for two panels, that number must be an odd number.
Pattern is written in smallest size with additional sizes in parentheses as follows: XS (S, M, L, XL)(2X, 3X, 4X, 5X). Final stitch count for ALL sizes will be in parentheses at the end of each round/row.
If you plan to block your garment, block your gauge swatch before measuring.

I could use a suggestion. I measured my daughter and we decided I should make her a small so it wasn’t too tight in the bust. But then I had her measure a favorite comfy tee across the bottom and she got 14.5inches. So when I started the small I’m getting a half circumference measurement of 17, which seems like it would be fairly baggy. But an xs gives me a half circumference measurement of 13, which would be too tight. When you say the stitch count is worked in a multiple of 2, does that mean I could split the difference and do a starting chain of 132?
You’re measurement should be half the finished circumference…so for XS it would be 16-16.5″ and for S it would be 18-18.5″. If you’re not measuring that across then you’re gauge is off and it won’t fit correctly. I’d adjust your hook size to get the correct measurements.
