Pattern Inspiration

One day I was just crocheting some swatches and trying out some different stitches and I came upon this unique variation of the single crochet stitch.

I decided I wanted to create a hat using this stitch. I loved the idea of using two or more colors to crochet this winter hat. So I picked up some of my favorite color combinations and went to work!

This winter crochet hat looks great on any age! You can really get creative with the colors to fit personal preferences. It’s warm and cozy, and the pom is totally optional!

The Yarn

The Heartbeat Hat uses worsted (#4) weight yarn.

I used Knit Picks Brava Worsted to create my sample hat.

This yarn is one of my favorites! It’s 100% acrylic, machine washable, and very sturdy and soft! It washes up so nicely with very little pilling or stretching! Plus, the color choices for this yarn are fantastic!

Yarn Alternatives

Some alternative yarn options that I love are Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran or Lion Brand Heartland. Both are great worsted weight (#4) yarns!

This easy crochet hat pattern comes in 5 sizes from 0-6 months to adult.

The pattern is rated Easy in pattern difficulty. It is beginner friendly. You just need to know how to single crochet and work in the back loop only.

To crochet this hat you start with the brim and work your way up. Then, you will decrease as you get to the length you need.You’ll cinch the top closed at the end and add the pom pom if you desire.
